The company extends the Plan’s duration until 2028; focussing on maintaining a work environment free of any discrimination on grounds of gender and providing continuity to the efforts initiated with the first Plan signed in 2018
Sidenor reaffirms its commitment to equal chances between women and men through the approval of its second Equality Plan, which will remain in force until July 2028. This Plan provides continuity to the efforts initiated with the company’s first Equality Plan signed in 2018.
The steel company focusses on achieving clear objectives and maintaining a work environment that is free of any discrimination on grounds of gender, ensuring a rigorous monitoring of the control indicators established for the agreed measures. Thus, the signing of this new Plan strengthens Sidenor’s continuous commitment to creating a fair work space for all its workers.
Increased presence of women
Sidenor’s new Equality Plan places special emphasis on increasing the presence of women in traditionally male positions – more precisely, in steel production and processing workshops.
To this effect, Sidenor will collaborate with educational centres to promote technical career prospects, presenting examples of successful women in these areas. The company will also improve physical conditions in the workplace, with adequate changing facilities and working clothes designed according to the specific needs of women, thus promoting an inclusive and accessible atmosphere.
Zero tolerance towards gender violence
One of the notable additions to the Plan is its special focus on women who are victims of gender violence. Sidenor maintains a zero-tolerance policy in such cases, reaffirming its commitment to the safety and well-being of all its workers. Along this line, the company commits to providing a safe and supporting work environment, where the victims can feel protected and supported.
Training
Awareness-raising and training are also fundamental pillars of the new Equality Plan. The company acknowledges the importance of identifying and addressing existing inequalities in the work environment. To this end, it will implement continuous training programs aiming to increase awareness on gender equality among all employees, ensuring that each member of the company is able to contribute to a fairer and more equitable environment.
The development of the second Equality Plan results from a negotiation and agreement with the main union representatives, among which UGT, USO, CCOO, LA SENDA DE UGARTE and ESK. Throughout this process, data were analyzed and new ideas and approaches were added.
This common work has enabled the creation of a Plan that does not only provide continuity to the progress achieved since 2018, but also introduces significant improvements to further advance towards gender equality within Sidenor.
